Components of visible leadership, performance standards, performance measurement, reporting progress, and quality improvement (QI) are discussed in detail.
- Utilizing Performance Management to Harness the Power of Quality Improvement in Public Health: This article shares how the launch of public health accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board has increased adoption of QI and performance management in health departments. - Embracing Quality in Public Health: A Practitioner’s Performance Management Primer: This free online training is designed to help public health agencies advance understanding and use of performance management and QI. Examples and guides on creating performance measures and information on QI basics are also included in this course.

These tools are based on a model for performance management that follows a QI cycle where outcome data loop back into the system for future decision-making.
